  SmallWorld Foundation Education

  • Middile East: Running education activities in 16 temporary learning spaces, with an estimated 5,800 children taking part in non-formal education and psychosocial support activities, and resumed activities in 20 schools and working with other international organizations to ensure schools are safe for children to return to learning.
  • Turkey: Supplied more than 500 education kits for children in two temporary camps in Gaziantep, as well as 16 teacher kits and 17 sets of rain boots for teachers and school staff. We’ve transported 14 teachers into villages to help children get back to learning.

      SmallWorld Foundation Support through Food Items NFI/FI:

  • Shelter, food and essential items- In response to the heavy rains in March-2023
  • Syria: 116 new tents to families. Our partners on-site have continued distributing hot meals, supporting 28,794 people so far, providing families with heaters, fuel and food parcels.
  • Turkey: Essential items (such as tarpaulin, ropes, blankets and raincoats) across Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay. Expert teams have been advising the national Repair Task Force and supporting assessments in residential areas of Nurdağı to repair damaged buildings.

     Water, sanitation and hygiene- As part of improving access to clean drinking water and sanitation, the below has been provided:

  • Syria: 36,346 people across 22 temporary camps with water on a daily basis through water trucking, as well as waste management.
  • Turkey: 977 hygiene kits (including shampoo, toothbrushes and toilet roll) and 2,516 dignity kits (including sanitary products), supporting 6,120 people

      Mental Well-being

  • Syria: Providing access to more than 952 children. 1,473 adults have accessed primary healthcare services through mobile clinics. Our partners on-site are also screening and referring children under five for malnutrition treatment.
  • Turkey: 12 focus group discussions with affected families and market assessments for food and essential items in 30 shops. During the month of Ramadan, dry food (including rice, dates and flour) was delivered to around 10,000 families in Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman.

      Cash – Support in cash donations to help victims recover:

  • Syria: Provided cast transfer to more than 1,900 families who’ve been left homeless
  • Turkey: Our partners carried out feasibility and risk assessments for cash and voucher assistance in Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Hatay. This involved interviews with 40 local representatives (local authorities, union representatives, community leaders and traders.
